KWANG-BAE SON

Time to overturn myself like a sandglass…….

Now I start my work.
The time and the space that went through me…..they have made me.
The future that turns into the past via the present….. it piles up on me.
It is the world in which innumerable memories of time are dancing without any pattern. I
I am floating between the dream and the reality in the confused memories.
My work is to throw a net obliquely into that space.
My ellipsis grasps homogeneity inherent in everything,
is not abstraction but surrealistic Concreteness,
and a life created by the memories of my origin, realities and dreams.
I am entranced when I see my eclipses glistening like fish in my net,
but exhausted when I see them dried like stuffed things on my canvas.
Regrets
I want them to be alive, be fresh in my work.
I want to be completely empty by the repeated overturning of the sandglass,
Of myself until my eclipses are reborn as live, shining beings.
